The UK's oldest employee is now officially London's, if not the world's, oldest marathon runner
Britain's oldest worker is set to claim another record as the oldest person to compete in the London marathon, eventually finishing the course in just over 10 hours. Buster was also hoping to make it into the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest marathon runner.
Unfortunatly, an official spokeswoman has confirmed Buster will not be entered into the Guiness Book of Records because it is impossible to verify his age. Buster's claim to be the world's oldest marathon sport runner is in dispute after Guinness officials claimed he is a mere 94, and not the 101 he claims to be.
Buster, whose real name is Pierre Jean Martin, first made the headlines in 2006 when it was revealed that he was the Uk's oldest employee. He is still working for Pimlico Plumbing.
According to Guinness World Records the oldest man to complete a marathon was the greek runner Dimitrion Yordanidis, aged 98, in Athens, 1976. He finished in 7 hours 33 minutes.
The oldest woman to complete a marathon listed by Guinness World Records was Jenny Wood-Allen who completed the London marathon, aged 90 in 2002. She finished in 11 hours and 34 minutes.
