SCA is an independent charity, which recruits and places student volunteers from the University of Cambridge in any one of dozens of projects in Cambridge. Each year we have more than 600 volunteers giving thousands of hours to improve the lives of people living in the local community. SCA volunteers really do make a difference.
We run 10 projects of our own and recruit for nearly 60 other organisations.
Our own projects include:
Big Siblings - a volunteer is paired up with a child from a disadvantaged background, a child with disabilities or a siblings of a child with disabilities, and visits weekly - playing games, doing sports, visiting museums and parks.
Bounce - a sports club, free for parents, which enables children from disadvantaged backgrounds to have access to sports facilities they otherwise wouldn't afford.
Betty's - Betty Stubbens Musical Entertainment Group is a set of musical volunteer who visit homes for the elderly each week and perform for them, encouraging them to sing-along too!
And many others, all entirely student-run...
