Treat yourself to a Gaelic shindig courtesy of - who else - Cambridge SCA!
The Ceilidh is a hypersocial dance where nobody needs to know the steps when they get there, everyone just picks it up as they go along and starts spinning around, with a content smile, as they pass from person to person.
Not only can you dig it on down with the students of the University of Cambridge for the evening (dispel the myths!), there will be refreshments and a demonstration from the Cambridge University Irish Dancing Society.
So if you fancy an evening of jollity and good-natured gentle bacchanalia, get yourself on the next train to Cambridge!
AND we'll have loads of info about the charity and about how you can help out in the Cambridge community if you are a student.
You will be spending the evening chatting to loads of new people, dancing about like a Gaelic loon and smiling; all whilst in the lovely location of Emmanuel College's Old Library.
The money we collect from the door (a brilliant £4) all contributes to the work of the charity - helping children in the community to overcome their difficulties, visting the elderly and bringing them some musical entertainment, attempting to raise literacy among local secondary schools, teaching English to those struggling with it, putting on trips for local disadvantaged kids...the list goes on!
Emmanuel College are the reigning champions of University Challenge, and their college is very pretty.
It's pretty casual - don't wear shoes that will tear your feet up as you're whirling about.
