All LeapAnywhereTV roles are volunteer-based. You will also get access to the entire network of people involved in LeapAnywhereTV. It goes without saying you can use the footage from any videos you are involved in for your own showreels. We encourage this. We want LeapAnywhereTV to be a platform to accelerate your career and meet other talented people who can help you along the way. All while having a lot of fun and helping some very cool causes.
Guidelines for all videos
The main rule of any videos produced for LeapAnywhereTV is that they have to be entertaining. It sounds obvious, but it's not :) When we started we had a lot of great people that went and just 'covered' events. Most of the videos ended up being kind of interesting, but certainly not entertaining. And on the internet, that means they don't get watched. We have a video seeding team that spreads the videos around the internet and we want thousands, hundreds of thousands of views on your videos. A lot of views makes all your hard work worth it.
So here are the guidelines for every video:
- Genuinely entertaining. May take 3, 4, even 5 re-edits. It's worth it.
- Fun, clever, original. Lots of thinking time in pre-production.
- Be short (final edit no longer than 3 mins)
- Be filmed at an event or activity that benefits a good cause or be an Independent Project (fun stunts and stuff) such as one from the list below. Click here to see upcoming events.
Uploading your video
Also, once you have created your video you can then upload it to your LeapAnywhere profile page. To do this, you firstly have to upload it to a Youtube or Vimeo account (we recommend Youtube). Then on your profile page underneath ‘Photos and Videos’, click ‘Add Item’ and then copy and paste the url of your Youtube or Vimeo video and click ‘Get’. Your video should appear and you can then fillout the name, description and tags (put in 2-3 tags such as "music" don't worry too much about this) for your video and click ‘Submit’ to finish. We will then feature most videos on the home page of LeapAnywhere and on charity websites and other video websites around the web.
IMPORTANT: Please email info[at]leapanywhere.com when you complete and upload a video so we can be sure to start seeding it asap and also feature it appropriately on the site.
Independent Project Ideas (aka video stunts or virals)
This list is just the start of a number of Independent Project Ideas you can use to form the basis of your video for LeapAnywhereTV. The list is endless. If you don't like any of these ideas, let your imagination run wild. We think it's fantastic if you want to take forward a totally different Independent Project idea. Get very creative. Remember, viewers want to be entertained.
And if you don't want to make a video but have a very good idea for an Independent Project Idea please leave it below in the comment section.
1. Turn your daily commute into a doing good adventure.
How many random acts of kindness can you carry out in a 1 hour? Or are there any really funny, creative, clever stunts you can think of to do on a tube that will raise awareness for a good cause? Make sure to film people's reactions.
2. Get a celebrity to do something amazing on camera raising awareness for a certain cause.
See below: LeapAnywhere Founder Malcolm getting his moustache shaved off by Hugh Grant.
3. Make a short funny movie to spread the idea of the Leap Effect.
There are dozens of ways you can take this. Ideas: Effect number 1: "We get high"- obvious, get creative though. Effect number 4: "Only the good die old"- film a funny spoof on Benjamin Button film where guy keeps getting younger every time he does good. Effect number 5: "Love love me, do good" i.e. doing good brings love- film a real life example of a guy who sees how many phone numbers/dates he can get a charity event highlighting that single boys and girls can meet people easily through doing good. We love this one!
4. Do something crafty.
Make something amazing, like a gorgeus hat with a charity logo on it saying "Give us a dollar" or "Give us a pound". Get people to drop the money in the top and raise some money for a cause you care about. Not sure which cause do to it for? Have a look around here.
5. Do something highly entertaining at your house, a friends houses, your University or office.
This could be a number of things. One fun idea is what we call Scare Day for Sport Relief. This is pretty simple. You get a team of 3-4 people together and scare people all day long. Someone films it. 15-20 different 'scares' all mashed up into one video are hilarious. Tell everyone that got scared they are making a difference and raising awareness for Sport Relief.
6. Wear something spectacularly awful for a whole day.
While doing this, wear a sign on your back saying: "Kiss me, I'm doing this for charity? Then have charity logo I'm doing this for [name any charity]". Film the facial expressions of the people walking by. Simple and viral.
7. How many people can you get to kiss you on a crowded part of your city?
Wear a sign saying "Kiss me on the cheek, it's free and is raising awareness for charity." Have the charity name and logo on your outfit or drawn on a large poster sized piece of paper. See what happens. If you fail massively, that's ok. It makes for a great video and loads of people will still see the charity logo. You can even collect a bit of money from passerbys in a bucket if you want. Then make a donation here. You don't have to though, donations are totally optional.
That's it.
That's a lot of stuff to read. You deserve a break.
After that, think about getting involved. Then do it. It's a lot of fun, great for your career and good things will happen for you, we can pretty much guarantee it.
The first step is to email us at info[a]leapanywhere.com letting us know you're going to make an Independent Video, or you can leave a comment below: something like: "This looks amazing! I'm in, going to get my team together now!" After that, the first step is already behind you.
